Odyssey Stop Motion Project

This project will be a translation of your Odyssey story into a stop motion animated, short film. In class, we will work to adapt scenes from your story into a narration script, learn animation technique, and produce a short film that tells your story. Remember that the story script needs to have:
  • A clear theme
  • Elements of Religion and Tradition from The Odyssey
  • Description of setting and place

Since you are working in groups, collaborating in a timely manner is important to stay on schedule for the overall success and completion of your film. At different stages of the process, you will be asked to take on different roles within your group.

Project Requirements

The final film must meet these requirements:
  • Must have 4-5 scenes
  • Must be between 2-3 minutes in total run time (TRT)
  • Must be filmed inside of the assigned box used as set
  • Must personify inanimate objects as characters for the story
  • Must have original backdrops and props for each scene (*Challenge option to greenscreen your backdrops)

Along the way you will be responsible for producing:
  • A narration script and professional quality narration recording that will serve as basis for your film
  • Storyboards of each shot and camera angle
  • A shot list detailing the shots you will use in your film
  • A script treatment

Benchmarks

Benchmark #1: Treatment (20 pts.) and Narration Script (20 pts.) (Due Friday, 2/27)
In your group, 1 person will be responsible for the film treatment, while the other 1-2 group members will work on writing the narration script.

Scenes 1 and 2 due. All hands on deck; 1 group member is responsible for camera operation, 1-2 group members are responsible for animation.
