Digital Arts Blog Posts

This blog is a space to share your thoughts and reflections on prompts that will help push our thinking about making and creating media products, as well as reflect on our artistic process. The prompts are meant to help you think about the lessons, activities, projects in a slightly different context and perspective, connected to your personal experience. Each prompt will relate to a lesson that will help us in our current projects. You are assessed on timely completion, clarity of thought, and attention to grammar and syntax.

Blog Post #4: "Share a :30 Story" (Due 2/24, 5 pts.)
Since we are working in a time-based medium now, short film, it is imperative that we are clear and concise in our messaging and storytelling. There is no wasted time, involving details that are insignificant, or dawdling in a section of the film that doesn't push the story forward. Write a story that you think would take :30 seconds, if read aloud. This story must be biographical, that is it must have actually happened, but it doesn't have to be a story of yours."
Blog Post #3: "Good and Bad" (Due 2/7, 5 pts.)
What are your definitions for good and bad? How can we change the way we think about giving critique to others without using the words 'good' and 'bad'?
Blog Post #2: "The Hardest Thing You Have Ever Had to Do" (Due 1/28, 5 pts.)
Write about an experience or event you found particularly challenging and what steps you had to take to overcome that challenge.
Blog Post #1: "What Inspires Me?" (Due, 1/26, 5 pts.)
Write about where you derive inspiration and a recent event or experience you find to be motivating.

Project DP Updates

The project updates must be included on a subpage underneath your "Digital Arts" class heading to receive credit for completing the update. I will not look at the update unless it is formatted correctly (look to my page organization as a model for how this should be done). Each project's requirements will be outlined below. Late updates will be accepted receiving only up to 50% credit (if all requirements are met).

Stop Motion Project (Due Wednesday, May 6th, 18 pts.)
Here are the requirements for a complete DP update:
  1. Process photos: Your sets and characters, you working on the project (these can be simulated), you and your partners editing (5 points)
  2. Scans of storyboards and a typed up shot list (4 points)
  3. Embedded final video (5 points) *I will send each group a link to the embed code for uploading to DP

In addition, address the following prompts:
  1. Describe each phase of the project from pre-production through completion (5 points)

  5. Why did we do this project? What did you gain from it?
